About the Role...
You'll manage the Distribution Health & Safety Policy and Procedures to ensure compliance with legislative requirements, and to ensure the delivery of a quality health & safety service to the business. You'll ensure that the health,safety and welfare of all Distribution colleagues, customers and visitors are considered at all times. You'll be instrumental in devising Health & Safety plans, practices and procedures to meet the continued growth and needs of the business.
What you'll be doing...
Here's a snippet from the Job description of what you'll be accountable for on a day to day basis:
  • The enforcement of the Poundland safety policy
  • Monitoring & reporting of reactive data on a weekly and monthly basis including all accidents, near misses and incidents within the distribution centres. Identifying trends from the data provided and putting in place action plans to reduce areas.
  • Ensuring all operations and team Managers are focused and report both accident and near misses in a timely manner
  • Supporting the accident and near miss reporting process. Daily guidance for all Managers as and when required and help with particularly problematic investigations
  • Review of Distribution/Transport Risk Assessments both periodically and post accidents
  • Arrange and take place in active safety monitoring including: safety inspections with the USDAW union representatives, hygiene audits, the implementation and Management of shift daily inspection books - (Ready to Trade for the Warehouse)
  • To regular review and the implementation of new processes, policy or procedures as and when required (fire evacuation, Demics & cleaning process & distribution SWOPs etc)
About You...
You'll have previously worked in a similar role within a Distribution environment. You'll be a Team player and a leader who is able to motivate a team and raise the profile of health & safety in the organisation. It goes without saying you'll be a Strong communicator with the ability to influencce.

For this role its key that you'll have the following:
  • NEBOSH National certificate
  • IOSH Managing Safely
  • Strong knowledge of Distribution operations
  • Sound knowledge of Health & Safety law and best practice
