Job Title: Drafting Claims Handler

Salary: £17,500

Location: Coleshill, B46

Hours: 37.5 hours Monday - Friday 9:00-17:30


Due to promotion and increased workload, we are currently recruiting a Drafting Claims Handler to work as part of a large friendly team within a well-established business in Coleshill.

You will be required to monitor the progression of assigned files by appointed solicitor in line with agreed service level agreements.

Full training will be given, and progression opportunities will be available.

Key Duties:
  • To deliver individual targets to support the departments effective timely recovery of debt and to manage the relationship between the business and the solicitor.
  • To investigate claims and prepare for drafting proceedings.
  • To draft court proceedings.
  • To understand the service level agreement in place with solicitor assigned to file, liaising and chasing as needed to ensure delivery.
  • To deliver individual targets set regarding timescales of solicitor acknowledgment, negotiated settlement or initiated action.
  • To identify shortfalls in service level agreement, reporting repetition or serious or unresolved issues to reporting manager.
  • To monitor and prioritise incoming email and post, communicating where necessary and presenting overview of file status to make recommendations on issues identified.
  • To conduct additional work as assigned to cover absenteeism or facilitate the smooth running of the department to achieve targets.
  • Complying with GDPR

Key Skills/Experience Required:
  • An understanding of litigation process and court proceedings would be advantageous.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills - both persuasive and assertive.
  • Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills.
  • An interest in law or a legal qualification would be desirable.
  • Good written communication skills, capturing a clear logical summary of situations.
  • Proven judgement a decision-making skills including problem solving.
  • Ability to demonstrate commercial awareness.
  • Ability to prioritise and recognise importance and urgency.
  • Ability to work on own initiative as well as support team and department goals and objectives.
  • Demonstrable experience of achieving targets.
  • IT literal, demonstratable experience of using in house computer systems.
  • Experience within the insurance industry is preferred but not essential.
