Press Officer / Press Assistant / Journalist / PR

Our client, one of the fastest growing companies in the UK, are seeking to recruit a Public Relations Executive to join them on a permanent basis.

The Role:

  • Deliver media relations and press office activity. Including research and create stories / engaging media material, generate positive coverage and handle media inquiries
  • Research and develop press releases and media material to generate positive coverage
  • Prepare reactive statements and Q&As to support Company announcements
  • Work with local companies to find interesting, attractive or unusual products to feature in trade journals
  • Build strong relationships with key media to ensure our client is featured regularly in positive news articles
  • Work closely with a PR agency, helping them develop PR campaigns and newsworthy content
  • Maintain the PR Handbook to ensure strong key messages and accurate lines to take on common media questions
  • Help develop a crisis/issues management manual, and ensure the business is prepared for potential issues
  • Ensure the financial PR agency and the Head of IR are fully briefed ahead of all announcements

About You:

  • Excellent written communications skills with the ability to bring stories to life
  • At least 2-3 years PR experience gained at a PR agency or in an in-house press office OR experience working as a journalist/ in the media
  • Experience in handling media inquiries and dealing with challenging questions
  • Able to handle confidential information
  • Strong research skills and media instincts around what makes a great story
  • Creatively minded - willing and able to suggest new approaches to meet internal comms objectives in an engaging and compelling way
  • Proactive, resourceful and able work from own initiative
