The Forest of Hearts charity is looking for a part time, self employed Gardener to help create and maintain an edible garden with raised beds at Stratford Hospital. To plan for year round produce to be grown for the Wellbeing hub cafe using no-dig, perennial vegetables and organic methods. To run classes to teach and assess others in Level 1 Practical Horticulture Skills. To provide quarterly reports to demonstrate impact.

Hours and fees

Initially 9am - 3pm every Friday. More hours may be available at other sites on garden maintenance tasks

Reporting

To the Forest of Hearts founder and trustees and also in close liaison with the Wellbeing Hub managers and working with sponsors and funding partners.

Essential skills needed

* Ability to manage and motivate volunteers and support their development

* Ability to teach and assess against the Level 1 in practical horticulture

* Planning of garden beds for optimum year round produce

* Fruit, vegetable, herbs and edible flowers growing

* Propagation from seed, cuttings, division, layering and grafting

* Composting using organic methods

* Polytunnel planning and growing

Qualifications

* RHS Level 2 or 3 in Hortiiculture

* A1 or D32 Assessor Award
