The Company
My client is a private limited company who design and manufacture a wide range of sensors, switches and gauges for the control and monitoring of fuel, oil, water and coolant levels and temperatures for OEM customers worldwide.
The role
This is a new role that has been designed due to growth and development of their internal systems. We are looking to recruit a part time Buying Assistant who will work with other departments to understand what to purchase and how to purchase it.
The Buying Assistant will be responsible for:
* Place and expedite purchase orders for all materials and resources required to meet the production plan.
* Ensure accuracy of all BoM's data and MRP related parameters (lead times, min/max stock levels)
* Ensure parts to the correct specification are available for all assembly operations so that service levels to our customers can be exceeded
* Report on KPI's for Purchasing Department performance
* Implement systems to ensure adequate stock levels of all parts are maintained whilst minimising total stock value and write off value of purchased parts
* Support the sourcing activities for new parts and the selection of new suppliers
* Champion the development of long term supplier relationships
* Support initiatives to rationalise our supplier base, establish vendor managed stock, establish Kanban stock control and reduce supplier lead times
The Buying Assistant will have:
* Experience of supporting purchasing activities in a precision manufacturing environment with an emphasis on supply chain development
* Knowledge of MRP systems, database management and complex bills of materials
* Demonstrable knowledge of forecasting, planning and scheduling
