Abbey House provides a specialist psychiatric rehabilitation and recovery service for 25 men aged 18 years or older with enduring mental illness and/or personality disorder. We support the needs of both detained and voluntary patients and can manage patients with complex needs, including those with a history of offending.

The quality and appearance of our services create the first impression for service users and their families and our Support Services teams take huge pride in ensuring the highest possible standards.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Chef to join our existing team.

The role:

To assist with the provision of a catering service within a Priory unit with particular emphasis on the planning, preparation, cooking and serving of meals.

To prepare and serve meals to a high standard whilst closely adhering to any religious or dietary requirements for our patients.

Takes full shift responsibility for the catering operation (in the absence of the Head Chef).

Ensures the cost-effective and efficient control of stock including placing orders for food products and the checking/reconciliation of deliveries. Ensures that wastage is minimised.

To assist in the keeping of all records to meet statutory requirements. Candidates must be NVQ Level 2 equivalent or qualified by experience in catering, together with a basic food handlers certificate as a minimum.

Essential: previous experience within a professional kitchen environment.
