Our Client, a World recognised and respected Automotive OEM Manufacturer based in rural Warwickshire actively seek a professional and experienced Cost Estimator / Cost Engineer on initially an ongoing contract basis. A hugely important role, expertise in bottom-up Cost Estimation is essential. Your expertise will be rewarded with a competitive, albeit negotiable hourly rate, based upon relevant experience.

* Benchmarking - compare similar components within the company parts library. Also look at competitor vehicles through 'tear-down' exercises. This then results in a 'benchmark' cost for the component.

* Quotation Analysis - they receive QAFs (Quotation analysis forms) from their suppliers. These should be analysed for Value for money. Through supplier visits the Estimator can confirm the content of the QAF and look for "waste" processes and commercial opportunities.

* Supplier Business reviews - compile supplier business review documentation identifying by cost driver where the supplier incurs the cost of manufacturing company products across their total business model and review ways to reduce these costs.

* Supplier visits.

* VSM (Value Stream mapping) Cost down - together with the Supplier, the Estimator maps the current and future state maps identifying ways to improve processes and drive down costs.

* Engineering support - to provide guidance to the Engineer of the most cost effective way of producing a component. All cost down modifications must payback incremental costs within one year of introduction.

Qualifications and Experience ideally required:

* -A Degree qualification in Engineering or Business is preferable, although those without this qualification, but with relevant working experience will be considered.

* -You should ideally have experience working in the Automotive industry, or a closely aligned industry sector (OEM experience preferable, but Tier 1 exposure is also fine), together with knowledge of Cost Estimating / Cost Engineering / Cost Down or equivalent.

* -Working knowledge of Excel and Word is required.

* -Use of Access would be an advantage.

* -You will need the ability to negotiate and review data with all levels of Management.
