Orbit is a fantastic business and one that's really going places.

This newly created Development Manager role sits within our strategic asset management team who work to manage, maintain and develop our portfolio of 42,000 properties. Within this portfolio exists huge potential for us to further enhance our communities by building new properties within current developments.

The Development Manager will work to identify and re-develop schemes within our existing portfolio. By utilising the GIS database, site visits and knowledge embedded in other Orbit teams you'll identify land within or adjoining the Orbit portfolio suitable for re-development.

You'll be looking at accessible land, land between plots and void properties undertaking option appraisals, viability tests and planning assessments in determining options and preparing and securing funding and planning permission via robust business cases. You'll have a great opportunity to work with our communities in understanding the needs within them and planning appropriate works that will enrich them.

You will be responsible for site due diligence checks and develop internal and external communication plans while working with our regional development teams in progressing scheme designs via RIBA stage gate process.

Working closely with the Head of Design Standards to use these opportunities to exemplify design standards with a stated intention to execute site strategies via offsite manufacturing/modular construction.

You will form and subsequently chair a project board to co-ordinate development programmes across the business and see each of the projects through to completion.

About you

Our Development Manager within Strategic Asset Management will need an understanding of development opportunities on a small to medium scale. You will likely come from a SME residential developer, consultancy, local authority or registered provider.

You will likely have RIBA, RICS, CLOB qualifications or detailed knowledge and have excellent experience of the development and planning process.

Naturally we're hoping you'll have excellent commercial awareness, the ability to communicate and influence and be collaborative by nature.

Experience of SDS (ProVal/Sequel) applications and knowledge or use of modern methods of construction would be a distinct advantage.
