Business Analyst - Financial Service Experience Essential - Mortgage or Savings
Salary: Up to GBP45,000 per annum depending upon experience

Permanent role

Location: Head Office, Near Birmingham

We looking to recruit an experienced Business Analyst to solicit, define, document and manage business requirements and operational designs, as well as developing and enhancing the business analysis standards and methodology.

Key Responsibilities:

* Understand and document as-is and to-be business processes and workflows, identifying relevant problems with existing systems and processes
* Work in collaboration with business teams to define, prioritise and validate requirements
* Challenge business area requirements to ensure they meet the real needs of the business, both tactically and strategically
* Define change requests for internal and external software developers
* Work as part of a team, planning and managing activities within small and large projects

Skills & Attributes:

* Ideally at least 3 years' proven experience of business analysis, ideally within Financial services
* Hold or be working towards the BCS Diploma in Business Analysis or equivalent
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills with the ability to challenge and influence at different levels of the organisation
* Capable of understanding complex processes across a wide range of business areas
* Broad understanding of IT and the business use of IT systems
* Strong analytical skills, including experience of working with a range of business analysis tools and techniques
* Capable of planning and monitoring own analysis activities, assessing impacts to deadlines when priorities change
* Ideally be a forward thinking individual with a curiosity for improvement and innovative solutions; good awareness of IT products and services to improve customer experience

Profile description:

Business Analyst

The Role

To solicit, define and document business requirements for process and software changes using best practice methodologies. This can include defining and documenting the operational design, incorporating business processes and operating models. To develop and enhance the business analysis standards and methodology for the organisation as part of a Business Analysis team.

Key responsibilities are:

* Understand and document as-is and to-be business processes and workflows, identifying relevant problems with existing systems and processes
* Work in collaboration with business teams to define, prioritise and validate requirements
* Challenge business area requirements to ensure they meet the needs of the business, both tactically and strategically
* Define change requests for internal and external software developers
* On larger projects, support the project initiation, business case and tender processes
* Liaise with Architecture and System Analyst team to evaluate all viable solutions to requirements, ensuring traceability of requirements to solution options
* Support developers and test teams where required in their understanding of business requirements
* Support colleagues and Junior Business Analysts through peer reviews and mentoring where appropriate

The skills and experience required are:

* A minimum of 3 years' proven experience of business analysis, ideally within financial services
* Hold or working towards the BCS Diploma in Business Analysis or equivalent
* The ability to communicate effectively is a key feature of this role. In particular, the jobholder will be required to interact with, and provide written and verbal updates / information to:-
o Management and staff throughout the organisation
o Technical and non-technical staff
o Third party organisations providing an IT service
o Examples of communications are managing documentation reviews, discussing system changes with suppliers, maintaining regular contact with business areas on system issues and changes.
* The jobholder will be capable of planning and monitoring own analysis activities, assessing impacts to deadlines when priorities change
* The jobholder will be capable of understanding complex business processes across a wide range of business areas
* The jobholder must be capable of understanding at a detailed level how computer systems support the business operations, and how data supports these processes and operations.
* The jobholder will be able to undertake key project activities including: defining business requirements; contributing to feasibility studies; mapping as-is and to-be business processes; defining the operational design; documenting operational impacts; writing functional specifications; supporting the Invitations to Tender process
* The jobholder must have proven practical experience gained within a business analysis environment, including experience of working with a range of business analysis tools and techniques
* Excellent written and oral communication skills are required, combined with an ability to challenge and influence senior managers
* A high degree of personal motivation and initiative is required
* The job holder will be required to work as part of a team planning and managing activities within small and large projects, within which there will be a large number of timing dependencies. This could include overseeing the work of others
* The jobholder will be expected to work on multiple projects, and report formally into the project reporting process
* The jobholder will be required to work with and co-ordinate 3rd party suppliers
