This is a great opportunity to join an established, respected Shropshire brewery with ambitious plans to grow. This role would suit somebody with a strong desire to be part of an organisation with ambitious plans to progress. As an experienced Chef, this is a huge opportunity to be part of this company. The dining side of the business is not currently in operation, so this is a great opportunity for an ambitious chef to create their own offering and put their stamp on the business.

Our client is a friendly countryside pub, recently taken over and refurbished by a local brewery company based in Shropshire.

Essential requirements: The successful candidate will need to have previous experience in a similar role and will have:
  • 3 years experience minimum as Chef/Assistant Chef
  • A current Food Hygiene Certificate
  • Be able to cook a wide variety of food styles - focus will be on English pub food, but you will need to be able to cater for other tastes and special occasions
  • Ability to create and cost a menu from scratch
  • Have the ability to work independently (the role will initially be the only chef employed by the pub), but also work as part of team with the other pub staff
  • Able to work under pressure and maintain high standards when the pub is busy
  • A passion for food with high expectations and values
  • Hold a current UK Driving licence, not essential but due to the location it may be handy

Responsibilities & Tasks:
  • Responsible for all aspects of the food side of the business - menu creation, pricing, food sourcing and purchasing.
  • Keeping the kitchen cleanliness standards high and compliant with EHO regulations.
  • Maintaining a 5 star Hygiene standard
  • Full accountability for the performance of the kitchen - in terms of GP, wastage, etc
  • The brewery also takes parts in multiple food festivals, and if the successful chef can display an aptitude for creativity, there will be opportunity to showcase their skills at the efood festivals and at other events run by the brewery

Salary/Package: £22,000 - £24,000K - depending on experience. Hours of work: This is a full-time role, hours to be arranged around restaurant opening times. Holiday: 20 days, plus Bank Holidays. They also offer a pension scheme.
