Evotech is seeking a multi-skilled engineer (electrically biased) to join our busy commercial building maintenance team, to undertake planned and reactive maintenance works at our client's, a global home furnishings retailer, Birmingham store based near Wednesbury.

Your job

You will be part of our client facing on-site maintenance team and will be responsible for efficiently delivering PPM and reactive maintenance, including fault finding, repair and installation of electrical services, along with more general maintenance work.

The requirements of the role will include the following:
  • Be proactive, use your initiative and take ownership of situations.
  • Ensure all work carried out is done so within the H&S requirements.
  • Work as part of the wider site maintenance team, demonstrating a professional & courteous manner to our client and their customers, assisting with any queries they may have.
  • Undertake daily and weekly checks to ensure smooth operation of the site, keeping up to date and accurate records.
  • Follow the agreed PPM schedule, working as part of a team to effectively deliver maintenance services safely, on time and within budget.
  • Respond to emergency requests to ensure our client's operations are not interrupted as far as practical circumstance will allow.
  • Provide prompt effective response to emergency situations, diagnosing faults and taking action to prevent deterioration in environmental conditions.
  • Use all appropriate communication channels to keep both client and our company informed of relevant information.
  • Recognise the importance of energy management and identify energy saving opportunities that will benefit the customer.
  • Liaise with specialist sub-contractors and engineers in other disciplines to minimise any disruption to the running of the building or the people using it.

Your remuneration

The role is full time, Mon - Fri, working 40 hours per week.

About you

Having succeeded in a similar electrical role, you'll ideally have professional qualifications in electrical and / or mechanical engineering and you'll be proactive, self-motivated, work equally well independently and as part of the wider team, and be able to build and maintain relationships across the organisation and with our customers.

The successful applicant will need to be an electrical engineer ideally with basic plumbing and joinery experience. Additional trade skills would be an advantage.

Essential Qualifications and Experience
  • Hold a City and Guilds electrical qualification (or equivalent) - Level 2 or above
  • 17th or 18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations
  • HVAC experience
  • Good technical knowledge as well as the ability to multi-task
  • Ability to plan and prioritise own workload to deadlines
  • Ability to work under pressure and on your own initiative
  • Ability to work from instruction and make decisions as needed with minimal supervision.
  • Friendly and approachable nature with great communication skills (including written)
  • Great attention to detail with excellent time management skills
