Primary Teacher (Key Stage 2) - The Falkland Islands
Up to GBP39,903 per annum + bonus and relocation package

Are you an experienced Primary Teacher looking to embark on a new adventure? Look no further!

We are very pleased to be working on behalf of the Falklands Islands Government to appoint two new Primary Teachers to work within Key Stage 2 at the main Primary School located in the capital, Stanley. Both of these positions are to begin in March 2020 and will offer the right candidate the experience of a lifetime.

The Falkland Islands is a British Overseas Territory, with a full internal self-government, it covers a land area of 4700 square miles (12,000 square kilometres) and a coastline estimated at 800 miles (1,300 km). The archipelago consists of two main islands: West Falkland and East Falkland, and about 776 small and very small islands, mostly uninhabited. The Falkland Islands are a small, thriving, self-sufficient community with a British way of life, benefiting from excellent local services, beautiful scenery and the glorious absence of traffic jams!

The role
Education on the Falkland Islands is unique. The Islands have a small population, with big ambitions. It will be your job to help turn these ambitions into reality.

As a Primary Teacher, you will be appointed either the Year 4 or Year 5 class within the main Primary School site located in Stanley. Class sizes are small, with around 20 students per class and 320 students across the whole school. You will be responsible for delivery of the 2014 English National Curriculum, therefore the successful candidate should have extensive knowledge of planning and delivering across all areas.

Your main responsibility will be to help your pupils achieve high levels of progress, in a happy and effective learning environment. You will possess an adventurous, dynamic and enthusiastic teaching style, with the commitment to differentiation and SEN inclusive practice to suit a range of abilities and needs.

The FIG and the island will offer a warm welcome to the successful candidate (and their family!) with a generous relocation package and housing at a heavily discounted rate.

The person
Professionally, you will be a resilient and self-motivated individual, with qualified teacher status and extensive teaching experience within Key Stage 2.

Interpersonal skills, confidence and teamwork are key to this role, as you will be working within a tight-knit team of other education professionals and will be required to liaise with external agencies and parents on a daily basis. Ideally, you will have a bold and infectious personality, and show willing to contribute to extra-curricular activities within the school community.

Personally, you should have a sense of adventure, resilience and a love for the outdoors due to the rural nature of The Falkland Islands.

The package & benefits
* 2.5 to 3.5 year Fixed Term Contract, commencing in March 2020, with potential for extension by mutual agreement
* Salary of up to GBP39,903 per annum - dependent on qualifications and experience
* Reduced Tax rates
* 25% gratuity allowance based on basic salary earned, paid at the end of the contract
* A relocation package is available for the candidate, their partner and children
* A flight allowance back to the UK for the candidate and all dependants
* Government housing at a heavily discounted rate, and a starter pack to help you settle in
