Our client is a well-established electrical distribution network operator with over 7 million customers throughout the UK. Their Tipton depot are seeking additions to the Design & Development Team within the Mapping Centre Department. This is a long term temporary role with immediate starts available - a minimum of 6 months with the likelihood of being extended and the opportunity to apply for internal permanent roles within the company.

This role may is typically a 37 hour week, flexible 8am - 4pm, 8.30am - 4.30am or 9am - 5pm.

Hourly rate will be £16.81.

Benefits include an excellent hourly rate with up to two salary increments a year, holiday entitlement rising to 26 days +bank holidays after 12 weeks and free parking.

As a GIS Data Capture Specialist you will be responsible to the Team Leader for
  • Completing tasks associated with the maintenance, modifying, upgrading and updating of the Company's Geographic Information System.
  • Being responsible, without direct supervision, for your own performance at all times, and that of your colleagues when appropriate.
  • Assisting with the development of standards associated with the working of the team.

Specific duties will be:-
  • Carry out standard practices and procedures associated with the maintenance, modifying and updating of the Company's Geographic Information System, namely:

- The attributed 11kv, 33kv, 66kv and 132kv Networks including running conditions.

- All other categories of electrical network information and third party data relevant to the business requirement.
  • Interrogate Enmac and Crown to establish authenticity of information received where doubt or unresolved issues may exist.
  • Provide feedback to, and meet with local Network Services team managers and team members to resolve information related variances and misunderstandings when necessary.
  • Provide feedback to, and meet with Contract Cable Recorders to resolve information related variances and misunderstandings when necessary.
  • Undertake quality inspections on completed work, both own and others when required to do so.
  • Check the quality of own output and that of others when required to do so in order to maintain the integrity of the information system.
  • Speak on behalf of oneself and the Company on an individual level.
  • Deputising for G5's as and when requested to do so, as agreed.
  • Other tasks appropriate to the grade.
  • Utilising Company applications and databases to provide feedback on individual performance and work processing progress.

In order to be successful for the role of GIS Data Capture Specialist, you will have:-
  • City and Guilds full certificate / NVQ level 2 or 3, or equivalent.
  • 18 to 24 months relevant experience following training.
  • Sound numeracy and literacy.
  • Good keyboard and Computer skills.
  • Knowledge of company procedures and systems.
  • Good inter-personal/communication skills.
