This commitment to creating better futures is at the heart of our new position for a Training Co-ordinator for Early Careers.

Our ideal candidate will have experience of full early careers offerings, from work experience and school leavers, interns and graduates to apprenticeships and trainees. The role will include co-ordinating and liaison with both internal stake holders and external business partners such as schools, colleges, universities and other employment groups. As well these key strategic relationships the role will focus on support for early careers employees and co-ordination of these programmes. Your understanding of early careers will help to advise and influence our offerings and ultimately help achieve our business objectives and people strategy.

This is a 12 month fixed term contract ideally to start December 2019

The role will include but are not limited to


  • Coordinating new starter inductions
  • Point of contact for all schools, colleges, Universities and manage partnership arrangements in place
  • Point of contact for early careers employees regarding their training and programmes
  • Manage and maintain the process for Work Experience and Internships
  • Track all early careers engagement activity including work experience, site visits, Ambassador activity and careers fayres
  • Manage and co-ordinate Trainee, Apprenticeship and Graduate programmes that meet the required Apprenticeship standards and supports the Apprentice during their programme
  • Communicate with line managers, HR Business Partners and the Health and Safety Training Coordinator regarding registration of courses, paperwork compliance, induction, regular reviews and the necessary training and rotation in the business for early careers employees
  • Manage the enrolment of employees onto professional qualifications, apprenticeships or other academic courses
  • Implement the Group Apprenticeship plan to ensure the appropriate use of funds including opening apprenticeships up across the group, degree level apprenticeships and the donating of funds to relevant suppliers and partners
  • Support the Head of HR Operations in the design and set up of a Group Graduate Programme
  • Monitor the use of the Apprentice pot and advising of any risk
  • Produce reports on Early Careers programmes and data as requested
  • Understand the recruitment plan for Early Careers employees to ensure training is planned in line with recruitment
  • Liaise with bodies including House Building Federation to ensure company involvement with initiatives to tackle the skills shortage and development of young people and diversity in the construction industry
  • Work with our external communications and marketing teams to outwardly share the work we are doing on early careers and skills development
  • Administration as required for training courses and programmes including preparing delegate and trainer packs and arranging logistics such as delegate invites and room bookings
  • Support the HR Advisors, HR Business Partners and Head of HR on project work as required

You will need:

  • Experience of early careers is desirable
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people at all levels
  • Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to prioritise, multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Strong administration skills
  • The ability to deal with issues in a discrete and confidential manner
  • The ability to work both cooperatively as a team and independently on own initiative
  • The ability to review and improve current processes
  • Ability to maintain focus and work calmly under pressure
  • Excellent IT skills and working knowledge of all Microsoft Office packages

Role is located at stunning offices in Longbridge, Birmingham

Hours are office hours, Monday - Friday

Salary for the role is circa GBP28,000 pa

Benefits include 25 days holiday and additional Christmas Shut Down.
