We have a new and exciting opportunity for an Director of Operations to join our client's charity based in Keele.

The CompanyOur client is a national charity working to transform the lives of disabled children and their families. They are entering an exciting period of growth with a major capital project following the move into a £15 million purpose-built therapy and research centre, which provides a state-of-the-art base for the Charity's therapies and an environment where ground-breaking research can be undertaken, potentially changing the way some disabilities are treated, which affects millions of people around the world.

This is a fantastic and exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and fast moving Charity at a time when it will attract national and international attention.

The RoleAs Director of Operations, you will develop and deliver the Charity's operational objectives. As the Charity is undergoing a period of unprecedented change due to growth and development, experience of innovation and leading change will be essential.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Influencing organisational strategy and improving operational and infrastructure
  • Leading by example and mentoring, auditing, developing, training and guiding diverse teams
  • Driving continuous improvement, innovation and change including identifying patterns or problem areas and implementing effective solutions
  • Reviewing operational budgets and financial information, evaluating overall performance by gathering, analysing and interpreting data and metrics
  • Ensuring appropriate risk and contingency plans are in place and outline appropriate action to be taken
  • Ensuring services are cost-effectively managed, promoted, resourced and regularly audited
  • Managing various procurement processes, including developing relationships with third parties and negotiating favourable terms / discounts
  • Developing and presenting reports at monthly board meetings, as well as ad hoc reports required by the CEO and other stakeholders
  • Working in partnership with the Registered Manager/Governance Lead and Clinical Lead to develop and monitor clinical governance, clinical practice and compliance with statutory and non-statutory bodies, including CQC, ISO 9001 and the Health & Safety Executive
  • Working closely with the Director of Clinical Services, Registered Manager/Governance Lead and Clinical Lead to ensure effective clinical and operational management
  • Work closely with the CEO, CFO, Executive Team, Department Heads and Department Managers to continuously improve the delivery of effective high-quality services, ensuring key outcomes and objectives are achieved
  • Raising the profile of services locally and nationally and promoting the charity as a centre of excellence


About you
We are looking for someone that is a natural strategic thinker with extensive senior management experience and a proven track record of making substantial strategic contributions to the success of an organisation.

Flexiblity is key to this role. You'll be comfortable with working at different levels, happy to 'roll up your sleeves' when necessary to ensure the smooth running of day to day operations, whilst also being an effective member of the Leadership and Executive Team.

As Director of Operations, you will need to have or be:
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • At least 5 years' experience in a senior management role ideally in the Charity or Health sector
  • Excellent business acumen with an understanding of financial accounts and analysis
  • Strong planning & organisational skills with the ability to analyse data and produce reports
  • An inspirational leader who has successfully developed high performing teams
  • An understanding of legislative and statutory guidance relating to managing a service for children
  • An understanding of safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills
  • Experience of working in (or closely with) the third sector (advantageous)
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 regulated industries and experience of managing a CQC regulated health/clinical service (advantageous)


Rewards
As Director of Marketing & Communications you will work 37.5 hours per week (some out of hours work and UK travel may be required). There is a salary on offer of £50,000 to £80,000 per annum depending on experience, plus performance related bonus.
