Salary : GBP43,000 Base plus Bonus and Company Car

This is a brand new role of Contractor Manager Designate - West. We have four sites in the West - Bolton, Liverpool, Crewe and Birmingham. As our Contractor Manager Designate, you will work in an area role and provide support for these regions. Reporting into the Senior Contractor Manager, you will be responsible for sourcing, selecting and implementing approved delivery Contractors across the UK delivery network.

About the role:

  • Our Contractor Manager Designate is an area based role where you will provide floating support. This may include taking responsibility for a site because of annual leave, sickness or absence.
  • You will work with the Delivery Planning Team, Field Team and Depot Network to identify the need to supply Contractor Driver Solutions.
  • Create a standard were contract solutions are managed, planned and controlled to achieve the agreed service and cost criteria to our final customers.
  • Ensure management controls both in Depot and in the Field are trained, implemented and reviewed where the solution operates.
  • Ensure contractual, legal and procurement processes are followed and developed, when implementing Contractors for delivery and for sub depot management.
  • Maintain individual Contractor records including back-up solutions.
  • You will hold responsibility for all aspects of Contractor pay and negotiation to ensure they are fair, consistent and cost effective for the company.
  • Represent the company through personal contact with our clients who use the distribution network for the delivery of their products to their customers.
  • Liaise with the Depots and the Field Team to ensure the agreed service levels are established and maintained to provide a consistent quality service to the Contractors, Sub Depots and Couriers.
  • Continually assess and develop the Contractor Driver Model to ensure it meets our client and end customer demands.
  • Because this is an area role, there will be a lot of travel involved as well as some working away from home. Ideally, you will be based within a reasonable commute of one of our Western Depots and close to motorway links for access to our other Western Depots

Requirements:

  • Previous people-management experience, with a particular emphasis on relationship management at all levels
  • Self-motivated with a proven ability to get things done
  • Highly effective communication, negotiation and influencing skills
  • Able to problem solve and plan effective contingencies and solutions
  • Be able to demonstrate great time management
  • Be flexible with working hours in line with a dynamic and fast paced business
  • Conversant in Microsoft Excel
